Politics, Politics, Politics…..
Here comes the season…..
Two Initiatives of Importance
1) Joint Tax Initiatives The Governor’s/SEIU joint venture tax initiative is imperative to get on the ballot. At this moment, petitions are out and CTA members are seeking signatures so that it may go on the ballot. Your Representative has or will shortly have the petitions and fact sheets. Please seek them out and either offer to get one signed by six other people or at least sign one. Remember only ONE county per petition. We only have a very short time to make this happen! If this doesn’t not make the ballot or if it does not pass we face the possibility of losing and estimated $370.00 per child more than we already have lost. That will add up to a huge amount from our budgets.
2) “Keep Corporate Dollars Out of Politics” or “Paycheck Protection” The design of this initiative is to break the unions. In a nut shell, it says that any money received via payroll deduction may NOT be used for politics….. Well, corporations do not receive money from employees in this manner that is used for politics — only UNIONS (police, fire, nurses, prison guards and …. teachers). Interesting. In addition, Corporations already out spend CTA $15.00 to $1.00 on politics and this would be allowed to continue due to the funding source. This has already happened in many states in the USA including Wisconsin – and we know what’s going on there.
Interested in WAY MORE INFORMATION???? go to cta.org and you will find tons of print, videos, anything you might want.
Help us any way you can — petitions, volunteering, talking to friends – family – neighbors – even the person in line at the grocery store. If we all do a little it will add up to a lot and we can make change in public education so that the terrific children of California receive the education they deserve!
